Watch “L.O.V.E.” by Jessica Winter

I have to admit, the publicists were absolutely right to insist I dive into the music of Jessica Winter. My eye-opening experience came a couple of years ago when I had the chance to see Jessica perform live in Ipswich. From the moment she took to the stage, I was utterly mesmerized by her experimental style and unconventional electronic-pop sound. It was a revelation that made me realize I couldn’t afford to be late to this party again. Now, I’m more determined than ever to stay ahead of the curve whenever she releases new tracks.

Having just wrapped up “The Limerence” EP cycle, I anticipated a considerable wait for new music from Jessica. Her latest track, “L.O.V.E.“, however, is well worth my patience. Normally, I might approach Valentine-themed songs with scepticism, but I had no such reservations with a Jessica Winter release. While “L.O.V.E.” carries a softer sound compared to her earlier work, it unmistakably showcases the innovative spirit that defines Jessica Winter. This track proves that she continues to push creative boundaries while delivering a compelling listening experience.

Speaking about “L.O.V.E.”, Jessica Winter said:

“I wrote this song a year before realising I was a codependent; sometimes my music knows more than I do… I wanted to capture the feeling of being infatuated at the beginning of the song but by the end it inevitably falls deeper and finishes with soaring strings; the sound of falling in love to me”.

The release of the music video for “L.O.V.E.” showcases Jessica and director Nan Moore embracing a strikingly simple visual aesthetic that captivates the viewer. The spotlight is firmly on Jessica as she poses for a series of beautiful photographs. Whether she’s curating images for an online dating profile or just capturing genuine moments of joy, the intent shines through. This minimalist approach not only highlights her personality but also powerfully serves its purpose, making the video both engaging and relatable.

In any event, the track is super catchy and steadfastly memorable.

Also announced is a London headline show at The Divine on Tuesday 15th April. Tickets are available to purchase HERE.
