WonkyWilla Drops New EP Alongside Annual Thanksgiving Charity Event
The rising dubstep producer’s new EP aligns with his annual “Wonksgiving” benefit event.
Thanksgiving is a time for gratitude, and for artists like WonkyWilla, that means giving back to the community that fuels his music.
The emerging dubstep producer has independently dropped Wonksgiving Vol. II, a three-track EP that embodies his knack for wubby chaos. Out now, the project lands on the same night as his annual “Wonksgiving” charity show, which benefits Texas CASA and supports a local food and clothing drive.
The EP opens with “The System,” which sees WonkyWilla team up with Homemade Spaceship and veteran MC Def3 for a hypnotic fusion of hip-hop and bass, laced with a low-end groove that demands movement. The ensuing“Woozy” (with Sloth) leans into an off-kilter rhythm that warps with squelchy textures and unpredictable sound design. The EP closes with “Algorithmic” featuring Blvcksmith, an intense and dark finale that still maintains the tongue-in-cheek playfulness at the heart of WonkyWilla’s sound.
“Wonksgiving has always been about bringing people together around music and good energy,” WonkyWilla said. “This EP feels like the soundtrack to that moment: when friends reunite, the dancefloor comes alive, and everyone remembers why we do this in the first place. Beyond the music, it is about giving back to the same community that has given so much to me.”
The project caps off a breakout year for the 23-year-old producer, currently mid-route on his 30-date “Galactic Circus” tour. You can listen below.
