Listen to “Jealous” by Ocean Tisdall
If there’s one song that’s been living rent-free in my head lately, it’s “Jealous” by Ocean Tisdall. I first heard the track when Ocean headlined the EQ Music New Music Showcase back in October. And from the moment he stepped into those opening lines, “Good for you chewing your food while my clothes hang lose,” I was completely transfixed. The performance was raw, intimate, and emotionally charged. The kind of moment where you feel the room collectively hold its breath. Ever since that night, “Jealous” has been on a loop in my mind, so its official release today feels especially satisfying.
Clearly, I’m not alone in my obsession. After Ocean teased clips of “Jealous” online, fans quickly flooded the comments asking/begging for its release. The enthusiasm was impossible to ignore, and the track was bumped up a full week earlier than originally planned. When a song resonates this deeply before it even drops, we know something special is brewing.
“Jealous” is one of those rare heartbreak anthems that hits with both emotional weight and lyrical elegance. The writing is poetic without losing its honesty, capturing the universal sting of watching someone move on long before you’re ready to. It’s tender, vulnerable, and painfully relatable. A snapshot of loving someone enough to let them go, even when every part of you wishes they’d stayed.
Speaking of the track, Ocean says:
‘‘I wrote Jealous in April this year up in Edinburgh with my friend and producer, Prentice. The song is about watching someone move on so easily after heartbreak – as if what you had meant nothing – while you’re left completely paralysed. It’s that feeling of seeing them eating, sleeping, and going out like normal, while you can’t even function, and realising how unaffected they are compared to you.
With this new string of releases, Ocean continues to solidify his place as one of the most compelling new voices in heartbreak pop. Each release feels like another page torn straight from his diary — tender, unfiltered, and effortlessly affecting. He’s steadily building a catalogue that stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the genre’s greats, and yes, that includes Adele and Lewis Capaldi. Ocean isn’t just participating in the sad-pop conversation; he’s reshaping it. If “Jealous” is any indication, his rise is only just starting.
