Empire of the Sun to Host New Three-Day Music Festival, Chrysalis, in Cabo

The ambitious destination festival is taking place in May 2026 at a resort venue along the Baja California coast.

Empire of the Sun, the electronic music duo behind global hits like “Walking On A Dream” and “Alive,” has announced plans to hose a new destination music festival, Chrysalis.

Scheduled for May 14-16, 2026 in San José del Cabo, Mexico, the event will feature three distinct performances by Empire of the Sun along with additional artists to be announced. The festival unfolds at Hotel El Ganzo’s Iskali Gardens, a scenic venue that includes outdoor stages, sculpture gardens and mango forests along the Baja California coastline.

The inaugural Chrysalis is being produced in partnership with 100x Hospitality, an events company specializing in artist-driven destination experiences. Organizers promise immersive art installations and “hidden activations” across the grounds, according to a press release.

“The festival’s story focuses on the circle of symbols: the door, the egg, key, wings and bell,” explained Empire of the Sun’s Luke Steele, who forms the band with Nick Littlemore. “It’s in the Chrysalis that these symbols communicate to us like a secret language: The Door, the threshold. The Key, the revelation. The Bell, awakening. Wings, the future self and The Egg, beginnings. It’s about creating a journey through music, art and spirit. In a world that is overflowing with distortion, it’s time to let yourself be carried away.”

Tickets go on sale to the general public November 21, with a presale beginning the day prior.VIP packages include exclusive merchandise, viewing areas and a “private welcome celebration” hosted by Steele. A higher tier offers an intimate dinner with the artist and “his spiritual guides” as well as access to a private recording session at Hotel El Ganzo.

Empire of the Sun released their fourth album, Ask That God, in 2024. The band has sold five million albums and accumulated more than six billion streams since their ageless 2008 debut “Walking On A Dream,” itself amassing over a billion streams on Spotify alone.
