Martin Garrix Teases Long-Awaited Ed Sheeran Collaboration, “Rewind Repeat It”
Garrix posted a cryptic photo with Sheeran and a repeat button emoji, reviving hope for a track that’s been “coming soon” for over a decade.
After nearly 11 years in production limbo, Martin Garrix and Ed Sheeran‘s collaboration “Rewind Repeat It” might actually soon see the light of day.
The track has been vaporware since late 2014, when Sheeran first announced the collaboration. “Finished up my very first EDM song with Martin Garrix, brilliant experience, looking forward to you all hearing it,” he wrote at the time, presumably before realizing that “looking forward” would mean a decade-plus wait.
Garrix premiered the anthemic house track at Miami’s Ultra Music Festival back in 2015, and the pair have performed it together sporadically at venues including Omnia in Las Vegas. But beyond those live teases, the official release has remained perpetually out of reach.
However, Garrix recently dropped a teaser on social media featuring a photo of the duo alongside a caption comprising a sole emoji of the repeat button. It was a subtle yet explosive post that sent his fanbase into a frenzy.
Whether this latest social media post signals an imminent release or just another tease in an 11-year-long saga remains unclear. However, a release seems likely considering Garrix’s Instagram has long operated as a marketing machine for his music and live performances.
As of this writing, neither Garrix nor Sheeran has announced a release date for “Rewind Repeat It.”
