DREAM THEATER Announces Two Career-Spanning Box Sets, Forgoes Any Rarities

Dream Theater is back with more box sets, because why not? They’ve got a shit ton of material out there and plenty of people who wanna own it – myself included.

First up is the massive 14-CD box set The Studio Albums 1992–2016, which unites 12 of the band’s core studio works for the first time across 14CDs. And it’s exactly what you think it is – all Dream Theater‘s studio albums from between 1992 and 2016 in a box.

And then there’s Dream Theater Vol. 3, which serves as the final installment in the group’s vinyl reissue series. That one includes Black Clouds & Silver Linings, A Dramatic Turn of Events, Dream Theater, and The Astonishing, each pressed on 140-gram black vinyl and housed in a newly designed slipcase.

Both are out on November 21 and are available for pre-order here. And hey Dream Theater, if you’re reading this, maybe consider doing a massive box set of all the YTSE Jam releases. Or even a collection of your old singles that only got released on CD, considering there are some sick bonus tracks on those things. These boxes are awesome, but the Dream Theater rabbit hole goes way deeper into the Earth.

Dream Theater will also celebrate their landmark 40th anniversary with the release of Quarantième: Live À Paris on November 28 via Inside Out Music/Sony Music.

The new live package captures the band’s November 23, 2024 performance at Adidas Arena in Paris, France, during their sold-out European anniversary tour. Featuring the reunited “classic lineup” of James LaBrie, John Petrucci, John Myung, Jordan Rudess, and Mike Portnoy, the show was a career-spanning celebration that included fan favorites such as “Metropolis Pt. 1”, “Panic Attack”, “Octavarium”, and “Pull Me Under”.

Dream Theater guitarist John Petrucci reflected on the importance of the release: “From the moment we announced our 40th-anniversary tour, we knew it would be a very special event for both the band and our fans and must be captured. With this release, our performance in Paris is presented so beautifully in both stunning audio and video and really encapsulates this momentous occasion for all to enjoy.”

Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy, who rejoined the band in 2023 after more than a decade apart, echoed the sentiment: “We always knew this tour would be unforgettable because not only were we celebrating four decades since forming the band, but also the reunion of the band’s classic lineup.

“The excitement and emotions between us and our fans at each and every show were palpable and totally off the charts! The night captured here in Paris was an epic evening that we can now share with the whole world to celebrate this incredible tour.”

The Blu-ray editions feature the full Paris concert mixed in Dolby Atmos, 5.1 Surround Sound, and hi-res stereo audio, ensuring fans can experience the evening in all its immersive glory. Pre-orders are available here.
