Country Star Diagnosed With Life-Threatening Disease
2025 has been a rough year in the country world as many favorites and icons have passed away or fallen extremely ill. Dolly Parton’s husband, Carl Dean, died in March, which was a devastating blow. Many questioned if that would end Dolly’s life and she would pass from heartbreak. Since Carl’s death, Dolly has gone public with her current health struggles and has been forced to postpone her Las Vegas shows. Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease has been a struggle for Alan Jackson, yet he keeps going on. A mini-stroke has impacted Ronnie McDowell, while Carly Pearce has a heart condition called pericarditis.
Now, another star has come forward with their health struggles, unveiling a life-threatening disease. Ashley Cooke has been a force to be reckoned with after getting her first number-one hit in 2024. Unfortunately, things have not been so easy when it comes to her health, as she learned she had Brugada syndrome. This syndrome is genetic, so she likely got it from her father. It is also a “rare” and “inherited” condition which can end in “sudden cardiac death.” One of the hardest parts for Ashley is that there is a lack of information, so she has no idea what could come next.
Along with Ashley Cooke’s own medical problems, the rising country star’s family has had their own struggles, as well. She explained what they have been going through and how it has taken a toll on her:
My dad had cancer for the fifth time. My mom had a heart attack. Both of my grandmothers passed away. My sister had stuff with her thyroid that she’s been posting about, too.
Although this has been hard for everyone she knows and loves, Ashley is not giving up the faith. Yes, she has lost a lot of relatives to Brugada; they were unaware of the illness.
The More You Know
Since a slew of Ashley Cooke’s relatives passed away from Brugada syndrome, she is aware of what is going on with her body. The fact that the Parkland, Florida native understands the severity of having this syndrome is huge, but she refuses to dwell on what could go wrong:
It’s just one of those things that I have, and I just know that could be something that takes me someday.
Ashley also added that she is confident in her longevity, which is an amazing outlook, given her diagnosis. She also welcomes all of the support from her celebrity friends, who have more than rallied. Hopefully, she can continue looking up, and more information can be discovered about the syndrome as time goes by.
