Fans Beg Country Star To Take Over Super Bowl Halftime Show
Playing the Super Bowl Halftime show is a huge honor for any artist. But this year’s singer has caused major division and tension. Super Bowl 2026 will be held at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on February 8, 2026. This is the home stadium of the San Francisco 49ers.
Now, fans are begging a country star to take over instead. Who do they want to perform at the big game?
2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show Artist Divides
For many people, the Super Bowl is about their favorite team winning. But some just watch for the commercials or the Halftime show. The Halftime show is a huge opportunity for a band or singer to get new fans and entertain the ones they have. The performers aren’t paid money, but are paid in exposure.

But the 2026 Halftime show singer probably didn’t expect the kind of exposure they’re getting now. There was speculation that Post Malone might get the coveted gig. Dolly Parton has turned down the offer several times over the years.
Instead of a country star, Bad Bunny was recently announced as the performer. He is the most streamed artist on many music platforms. However, the NFL stoked controversy by choosing him. Why?
Bad Bunny is Puerto Rican. He’s been critical of the current administration. He refused to tour in the U.S. because of fears that ICE would raid his shows. Some would call him unpatriotic. To make matters worse, a lot of people don’t know that PR is a U.S. territory, making Bad Bunny an American citizen.

Fans Beg Country Star To Take Over Instead
Turning Point USA has vowed to put on its own Halftime show to counter the NFL’s with Bad Bunny. But one music fan has a better idea. They created a petition that called for country star George Strait to replace Bad Bunny.
“The 2026 Super Bowl offers a unique opportunity to pay tribute to American music’s rich heritage by featuring George Strait in its halftime show. His performances are known for their authenticity and raw emotion, qualities that are crucial as we aim to unite fans from coast to coast,” the fan wrote on the Change.org petition.

They added, “The Super Bowl halftime show should unite our country, honor American culture, and remain family-friendly, not be turned into a political stunt. Bad Bunny represents none of these values.”
George Strait has never performed at the Halftime show. He sparked concern over his frail appearance during a tour this summer. The singer, 73, has never expressed interest in performing at the NFL game or reacted to the fan petition.
If you could choose one country artist to replace Bad Bunny at the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime show, who would it be? Let us know in the comments.
