EQ Music Interview with Samuel Evanson

In this EQ Music interview with Samuel Evanson, we dive into the rising synth-pop and indie artist’s journey from North Wales to Manchester, where he’s been making major waves in just his first year of releasing music. Samuel opens up about his breakout single “Dopamine”, a shimmering exploration of love’s highs and lows, and shares how influences like CMAT and Paloma Faith have shaped his storytelling style. With charm, honesty, and a fresh pop sensibility, Samuel is quickly carving out his own place in the UK music scene.

Tell us a little bit about yourself. Where are you from? Where are you living? What kind of music do you make?
I’m from North Wales I’m currently living in Manchester and I make synth pop & indie music. I’ve only been making music since last year and it’s gone incredibly well. I was never expecting to get some of the opportunities I’ve had and it’s been a dream. I just want to do it full time! I don’t want to talk about my day job it depresses me.

We are very excited to be featuring you on our New Music Showcase on 24th October at The Camden Club in London, tell us a little bit about what you are going to bring to us on the stage.
I’ll be performing my most popular tracks alongside unreleased music.

We love your latest release “Dopamine” – tell us a little bit about this song/project.
“Dopamine” was such a different track compared to the rest of my catalogue, it’s about the highs and lows of a new relationship and about taking the leap. It was nice to step out of my comfort zone with a different genre of song.

When it comes to music influences, who are your greatest heroes in the pop music space both legacy and new?
CMAT is one of my biggest influences, the way she can tell a story in a song is incredible and I’ve learnt so much from her music. Paloma Faith is also someone who I’ve looked up to since I was younger her style is just so cool.

What was the last concert or gig you went to?
Paloma Faith. She was iconic.

Any parting words for our EQ Music Blog readers?
I’m really looking forward to the showcase in London this month and can’t wait to meet some more amazing people! See you there darlings.
