Flux Pavilion Reloads “Bass Cannon” With Massive 2025 Edit: Listen

14 years after its release, the dubstep classic returns as part of Flux Pavilion’s push to regain control of his catalog and pave the way for official reworks.

Flux Pavilion has released a new version of his iconic dubstep track “Bass Cannon,” continuing a series of reworks aimed at reclaiming full ownership of his early catalog.

Out now via his own Circus Records imprint, the track appears as “Bass Cannon (Flux’s Version)” and follows closely behind his new version of “I Can’t Stop,” which dropped last month. In both cases, the influential dubstep producer revisited major tracks from the genre’s golden era to regain control after previous licensing deals made it difficult to release official reworks.

Originally released in 2011, “Bass Cannon” helped establish Flux Pavilion as a leading voice in dubstep’s global expansion. With its pounding bassline and unmistakable vocal hook, it became a transatlantic fixture and helped push the genre into the mainstream.

In a social media post, Flux explained that by re-recording and re-releasing these songs as new master recordings, he now retains full creative control and the flexibility to build new versions without label interference.

The shift also opens the door for long-awaited collaborations. In the comments of his own Instagram announcement, Flux wrote, “Now we can get that LYNY remix out.” That refers to LYNY’s unofficial “Bass Cannon” flip, which has racked up more than 728,000 streams and 30,000 likes on SoundCloud since its release a year ago. The new version potentially clears the path for an official release on streaming platforms, resolving prior limitations around rights and remix distribution.
