Afrojack and Aloe Blacc Team Up for Progressive House Anthem, “In My World”
The Dirty Dutch pioneer goes cosmic on his new single, parking Aloe Blacc on a faraway planet to sing about shared humanity.
Dutch EDM superstar Afrojack has gone interstellar for “In My World,” a new dance anthem with Aloe Blacc that preaches unity from several thousand miles up.
Out now via Afrojack’s own Wall Recordings, “In My World” is a full-blown progressive house anthem that channels the hands-in-the-air rapture of early-2010s Avicii. It features a stentorian performance from Blacc, who offers the sort of powerhouse vocals that turned the legendary DJ’s 2013 track “Wake Me Up” into a global phenomenon.
The release arrives at a time when that brand of progressive house is spreading its wings again and recapturing the same festival glory it did in the early 2010s. To that end, Afrojack trades the wonky whimsy of his signature Dirty Dutch sound for euphoric chord progressions, climactic builds and anthemic drops that prioritize melody over mayhem.
Meanwhile, Blacc ponders our shared humanity over Afrojack’s soaring synths. True to form, the chart-topping singer-songwriter delivers cosmic lyrics that lift chests and make hope audible, belting over production that aims straight for festival singalong status: “I had a dream, I was standing on a star / And I realized how beautiful we are / A world full of dreamers, I can feel your beating hearts.”
