Liquid Courage and Romantic Fumbles Power New Chainsmokers Single, “Smooth”
Barstool confessions turn into anthemic festival drops in the chart-topping duo’s latest single, out now via Secondhand Happiness.
The Chainsmokers are back with “Smooth,” a new single that showcases the duo at their best, where messy emotions are polished into gleaming EDM drops.
Drew Taggart’s vulnerable confessions about liquid courage and romantic fumbles explore the universal experience of watching your own social skills evaporate in real time. Like Blink-182 finding humor in relationship failure, they remind us that flawed delivery can be its own charm, and sometimes the best way to be smooth is admitting you’re not.
On the production side, an intimate bridge laden with guitar licks detonates into an anthemic house drop built for confetti cannons. The result recalls The Chainsmokers’ “Roses” era, where bedroom heartbreak and festival euphoria found common ground.
It’s worth noting that “Smooth” appears in bundled format on Spotify alongside two recent singles, “Helium” and “White Wine & Adderall.” While The Chainsmokers haven’t confirmed a new album at the time of this writing, it’s a safe bet. The chart-topping duo’s last full-length LP was 2023’s Summertime Friends.
