Listen to “Broken Record” EP by Be Like Milo
Emerging artist Be Like Milo, recently featured on the blog. Because of piquing interest with a sneak peek of his debut EP through the tracks “Dead” and “CTRL ALT DEL.” In these releases, he masterfully blends a vibrant hyper-alt-pop sound with a mesmerising alt-electronic-pop aesthetic. These tracks, above all, shape an EP that poignantly explores the artist’s relentless quest “to build intimacy at a time when it feels increasingly difficult to form real, long-term connections“.
Furthermore, immersing myself in the EP teasers, I thought I had a clear idea of what to expect from Be Like Milo’s debut project. However, I was delightfully surprised by the depth and vulnerability that unfolded as I delved into the tracks. The EP opens with “Childish Mindgames” and “NTOFY” (not the one for you). These are two evocative synth-pop anthems that pulse with emotionally raw lyricism, offering a dreamy and introspective atmosphere. These powerful tracks seamlessly lead into the poignant “Endless Youth,” the sole ballad in a collection of six. This deeply soul-searching narrative candidly reflects on a past relationship, showcasing Be Like Milo at his most genuine and heartfelt.
The EP is notably structured in two captivating halves. The first section introduces dreamy introspection. Whereas, the second half dives headfirst into a vibrant hyper-pop direction with standout tracks like “Dead,” “CTRL ALT DEL,” and the title track “Broken Record“. All of which culminates in a dynamic listening experience.
Notably, Be Like Milo is gaining significant traction in the live music scene. Moreover, with a highly anticipated headline show at The Divine in London on October 9th to celebrate his EP release. The event will feature support from emerging talents Stan Pratt (See EQ Music Blog coverage HERE), Emma Tea, and Maehem. Excitingly, he’s already laying the groundwork for EP2, hinting at an even more thrilling future.
