Listen to Skrillex and Slikback’s Unhinged Experimental Track, “Kixa”
A pure sound design showcase, “Kixa” is available only on Bandcamp, YouTube and SoundCloud.
Skrillex has teamed up with Nairobi-born beatsmith Slikback for a new collaboration, “Kixa.”
Devoid of vocals, the track is a masterclass in sound design. With syncopated percussion and abrasive, distorted drums, the production harkens back to the claustrophobic brilliance of early Death Grips. Its frenetic arrangement operates like a high-stakes game of musical Jenga, with each element threatening to topple the whole structure while somehow maintaining perfect balance.
Where many instrumental electronic tracks coast on atmosphere, “Kixa” demands active listening through its creators’ distaste for convention. Slikback’s off-kilter Kenyan electronic sensibilities inject fresh DNA into Skrillex’s experimental bass arsenal, creating something that feels both globally minded and utterly unhinged.
“Honored to share this one,” Slikback wrote on social media. “A track with one of my biggest sparks to start making music. An incredible artist and soul.”
“Kixa” is available to stream on Bandcamp, YouTube and SoundCloud. You can listen to the new collaboration below.
