Dolly Parton Taking Break From Releasing New Music
Dolly Parton has entertained millions of people in the last sixty years of her career. But after decades of putting her all into her music, she needs a break. Keep reading to find out why the famed singer is stepping away from releasing new music.
Dolly Parton Shares New Insight On Marriage To Late Husband
Dolly Parton was married to Carl Dean for almost sixty years. But he passed away earlier this year, shortly before what would have been their 59th wedding anniversary.
But in all their years together, Carl Dean was rarely spotted out with his famous wife, nor did he give interviews about her. He quietly supported Dolly Parton’s dreams from behind-the-scenes. She credits him for her success, and she isn’t sure how to go on without him.

Her husband was a private person, and Dolly Parton respected that. But now that her husband is gone, she keeps his memory alive by looking back at their storied romance. She was a recent guest on Khloe Kardashian’s Khloe In Wonder Land podcast, where she shed new light on her longtime marriage.
“But I really think that there’s just certain personalities that are great for each other. And we were together 61 years,” she said about her husband.
She added, “We were just so different, but we were so similar. We were perfect, as far as the temperature in the house. We didn’t fight over that ‘cause we both were comfortable at the same thing. Just so many things we were compatible about, and we just got along great.”
She described her late husband as a “loner.” She said, “He did not want a bunch of people around him except me. Of course he had friends, but he was also the same way. He’d rather be at the barn, be on the farm all day, and if he was gonna go sell a loader or buy a loader or have somebody come work on one of his trucks or tractors, he’d have to let people in.”
Dolly Parton Taking Break From Releasing New Music
She’s done her best to keep busy with various projects since her husband’s death, including an upcoming Las Vegas residency. But fans hoping to hear new music from Dolly Parton will be sadly disappointed to know that she’s taking a break from music.
Shortly after her husband’s death, Dolly Parton released the song “If You Hadn’t Been There” she wrote in his honor. But aside from the recent Classic Rock collaboration, it might be the last song fans hear from her in a while.
She opened up to Khloe Kardashian about the difficulty of writing songs amid grieving for her late husband. “I’m just coming up with such wonderful beautiful ideas, but I think I won’t finish it. I can’t do it right now,” Dolly Parton confessed.
The singer plans to take a break from writing and releasing new music while she mourns. “I can’t afford the luxury of, you know, getting that emotional right now,” she said.
“I’m just putting that all on hold.”
