Kacey Musgraves Suffers Gruesome Injury After Fall

Kacey Musgraves is a Grammy-winning country singer known for blending elements of folk, pop, and even disco, into her music. But despite her many accolades, she’s just like the rest of us. The country crooner suffered a gruesome injury after a fall. She canceled a show due to the injury. Keep reading to find out what happened and her next big appearance.

Kacey Musgraves Suffers Gruesome Injury On Stage

Kacey Musgraves appeared on Nashville Star in 2007. She came in seventh place. But the show was a huge stepping stone in her career in country music. The singing competition also launched the career of Miranda Lambert.

Musgraves has released six studio albums, including Deeper Well in 2024. She’s won a stunning total of six Grammy Awards in her relatively short career. She was recently in Mexico before heading back to Nashville for a scheduled performance.

However, the performance for the Sing for Science podcast. The unusual podcast pairs musicians and scientists for riveting discussions of science, with musical performances thrown in. Kacey Musgraves was due to a live taping of the podcast at the iconic Ryman Auditorium on Sunday, June 22.

Unfortunately, she was unable to make the appearance after a gruesome injury in Mexico. She took to social media to share with fans what happened.

“Wednesday night it was raining and I was running to grab some towels and had an extremely hard fall on some very slick tile I didn’t see,” the “Butterflies” singer said.

She added, “Thankful I didn’t smack my head but I landed very hard on my back left ribcage and broke rib number six.”

The singer said that she wasn’t able to do anything due to the pain, including perform on stage. The Sing for Science event has been postponed to a later date.

Kacey Musgraves expressed how sorry she was. “There is no physical way I can get on a plane and fly back to Nashville for the Sing for Science event,” she wrote, before apologizing for the inconvenience of canceling the appearance.

Her fans took to the comments with well wishes for a speedy recovery. One fan wrote, “I’ve broken a rib before and that shit sucks! hopefully it heals quickly!”

Another added, “I’m feeling your pain being a musician also. I had broken ribs at the start on April. Playing music is difficult when you cant move.”

But that doesn’t mean Kacey Musgraves is canceling her entire tour schedule. She’s scheduled for a handful of festivals this summer, including the Up In The Sky Music Festival in Aspen, Colorado, in August.

It was recently revealed that Kacey Musgraves will headline the first-ever All Things Go Festival in Toronto, Canada, on Saturday, October 4.

Some other notable performers include Noah Cyrus and Broadway star/actress Reneé Rapp. The festival features female and non-binary artists.

Hopefully Kacey Musgraves’ broken rib will be healed by then.
