Shaboozey Angers Fans With Latest Move
Shaboozey grew up in Virginia. The son of Nigerian immigrants started making music as a teenager, uploading the tracks online and experimenting with genres. He takes his inspiration from a variety of genres, from rap to traditional country. His debut album, Lady Wrangler, dropped in 2018. However, he didn’t get nationwide attention until April 2024 when he released “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” off his third album.
He has been making waves in country music since his hit song. But his latest move left fans feeling angry and frustrated. Keep reading to find out what happened.
Shaboozey Makes History With Hit Song
Shaboozey followed the Lady Wrangler album up with Cowboys Live Forever, Outlaws Never Die in 2022. But he didn’t break through the mainstream until his third album, Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going in 2024. The fourth song he released off the album, “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” became a worldwide sensation thanks to social media. The song went viral on TikTok and a star was born.
According to several outlets, the song has the longest reign in the number-one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, tied with Lil Nas X’s 2019 hit “Old Town Road.” Both songs stayed at the top of the charts for a shocking 19 weeks, breaking a record for this decade.

Fans Angry Over His Latest Stunt
There’s another unexpected singer rising through the ranks. Dallas rapper BigXThaPlug recently had a dream come true with a collaboration with Jelly Roll. But he’s not done yet. BigXThaPlug was spotted collaborating with Shaboozey but fans aren’t happy about it.
The two appeared in Texas together to shoot a music video. The video is almost as controversial as Jason Aldean’s “Try That In A Small Town.” Fans are fine with the collaboration, even excited to see what the two come up with. However, Texas residents were not happy with the inconvenience of the video shoot. According to Whiskey Riff, the video shoot shut down a busy highway during rush hour traffic.

Shaboozey rented out the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge in Dallas, Texas. The video shoot shut down one side of the highway, forcing residents to take a longer detour home. Many drivers didn’t know about the video shoot. They took to social media to vent about the traffic delays.
- “I just know traffic was terrible through the whole city”
- “So that’s why I was late to work.”
- “No wonder traffic was heavy”
- “So that’s why i was stuck in traffic for 2.5 hours”
But one Dallas resident gushed over BigXThaPlug’s rising star. “I am so proud of this dude he’s the biggest the largest thing out of Dallas,” they wrote.
What’s Next For The Singer
