Chris Stapleton’s Debut Album Makes History

Before his solo career, Chris Stapleton was the lead singer and guitarist for the bluegrass band, the SteelDrivers. He also formed and led the rock band, the Jompson Brothers. His life changed in 2015 when he released his first solo album, Traveller.

Nearly a decade later, the album is still heating up the charts. The album was released in early May 2015. According to Forbes, it is still charting on the Billboard 200 album chart. The outlet notes that the debut album sits at #91 on the Billboard 200 and is also #15 on the Top Country Albums chart.

Chris Stapleton Brings The House Down With Classic Cover

Chris Stapleton’s last album was Higher in 2023. He hasn’t revealed plans for his next album, but continues touring. The singer recently extended his All-American Road Show Tour.

Even though he has a number of hits in his discography, Chris Stapleton never misses a chance to perform a cover or collab with another artist. Fans are still talking about his performance of a classic rock song at the 2024 Austin City Limits music festival.

He included the iconic Lynyrd Skynyrd song “Free Bird” into his setlist. The YouTube video is still racking up comments from fans who recently discovered the cover.

One Song He Will Never Sing Again

Fans said for begged for years for Chris Stapleton to perform at the Super Bowl. They got their wish in 2023 when he opened the game with a stunning rendition of the “Star-Spangled Banner.”

The singer was a guest on NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s podcast after the Super Bowl. Chris Stapleton said that he never gets nervous performing, but was nervous that night. “Genuinely nerve-racking and I was live-live. There was no pre-record,” he said about performing the anthem.

Fans still ask Chris Stapleton to perform the song for them, but he refuses. Once was enough for him. He told Dale Earnhardt Jr. that he tells fans that he’s “officially retired” from performing the song when they ask.

As with other Super Bowl performers, Chris Stapleton wasn’t paid for his performance. However, it gave him nationwide exposure to an audience that may not have been familiar with his music.
