HAYLA and Nelly Furtado Join Forces for Spellbinding Collaboration, “FADED”

But with her “FADED,” she’s leading a statement piece.

A moody and melodic dance cut, the track sees HAYLA joined by Furtado, whose recent presence in electronic music culture has been both unexpected and entirely welcomed. Building on the foundation laid by her 2023 collaboration with Dom Dolla, “Eat Your Man” and recent album 7, Furtado finds herself joined by a collaborator who matches her depth and meets her on the dancefloor.

“FADED” is the type of duet that’s rarely attempted in modern dance music, where vocal performances often feel like relay handoffs rather than intimate dialogue. Here, the harmonization is front and center, their voices folding together in spectral layers that give the track a haunting weight.

“‘FADED’ is about when you’ve started to become infatuated with someone,” HAYLA said in a press release. “The feelings take over as if under a love spell, but it’s a spell you’ve cast on yourself. They were the spark that lit the match. When the other person’s gone you still feel the weight of their presence.”
