Fire In The Mountains 2026 Announces 16 HORSEPOWER Exclusive US Reunion Performance
Fire In The Mountains has announced another kickass line-up addition to their 2026 edition: the exclusive 2026 US reunion performance of the legendary 16 Horsepower.
For over a decade, 16 Horsepower helped redraw the map of guitar music by twisting traditional Appalachian folk, bluegrass, gospel, and country around a stark, electric spine. Their unique sound, which has been dubbed “gothic country” and “gothic Americana,” blazed the trail for the iconic “Denver Sound”.
This reunion brings the core triad — David Eugene Edwards, Jean-Yves Tola, and Pascal Humbert — back into the same frame for the first time in 21 years. Rather than slipping into a predictable club circuit or major-city festival, they’ve chosen a setting that mirrors the gravity and austerity of their music: the wide-open, mountainous expanse of Fire in the Mountains.
In a brief statement, David Eugene Edwards said: “It is a special honor and privilege to reunite and drift like sleep into the Hotel Montana. To the Great Blackfeet Nation’s sovereign lands for the Fire in the Mountains festival 2026.”
Fire In The Mountains 2026 will take place between July 23 and 26 at Red Eagle Campground in East Glacier, MT, and the bands announced so far are:
- 16 Horsepower (Exclusive US reunion performance)
- Enslaved
- Borknagar (U.S. exclusive)
- Yob (presented by Firekeeper Alliance)
- Gallowbraid (U.S. live debut)
- Sigh
- Wayfarer
- Midwife
- Tarantella
- Galvanist
- Nocturne
Fire in the Mountains is an immersive, open-air music and cultural event that merges heavy music with natural landscapes and Indigenous cultural experiences. As the only alcohol-free heavy music festival in North America, Fire In The Mountains is dedicated to confronting a critical and urgent issue that significantly impacts the Blackfeet Nation, and all of Indian Country: suicide.
Fire In The Mountains is committed not only to raising awareness of the prevalence of suicide in Indian Country but also to actively participating in the solution by providing support for suicide prevention initiatives. Fire In The Mountains aims to create a platform that brings this issue to the forefront of our public consciousness and fosters a supportive community dedicated to change.
Through music, art, and education — all set within the remote wilderness that borders Glacier National Park — in an area the Blackfeet call “The Backbone of the World,” Fire In The Mountains offers a one-of-a-kind, immersion-based experience designed to rekindle the inner fire and deepen each participant’s connection to the natural world and to one’s self.
This distinctive approach has quickly earned Fire In The Mountains international recognition as the most original, talked-about, and meaningful heavy music festival in North America. More news from Fire in the Mountains coming soon.
