Reba Explains What Felt Inappropriate About Her Engagement
For five years, Reba McEntire has been happily in love with Rex Linn. There have been rumors swirling that they were engaged or married, but none of that was true. Furthermore, the two co-star on the NBC hit, Happy’s Place, so there were questions if their characters would fall in love. Finally, Reba and Rex attended the Emmy Awards, where they were referred to as fiancés, which raised eyebrows. No one had seen or heard of an engagement, and she was not wearing a ring. Therefore, it was up in the air if he had truly popped the question.
Rex did propose to the actress and country superstar, although it does not appear that a wedding date has been set. As it turned out, the couple had been engaged for roughly a year before going public, but kept it close to their chests. So, what was the reasoning behind this? Reba shared the method to their madness and went into further detail about the Christmas Eve proposal:
We got engaged December the 24th, Christmas Eve, at Leiper’s Fork (in Tennessee).
The McAlester, Oklahoma, native then went on to note that they had every intention of sharing the big news, but tragedy soon struck with the California wildfires. That led the duo to keep the engagement a secret, as it was not the proper time to celebrate. People had lost everything, and a celebration was not in the cards.
However, the Emmy Awards, where Reba McEntire was paying tribute to The Golden Girls, was the perfect time for them to share the happy news. Fans were over the moon for the couple, especially since Reba’s beloved stepson, Brandon Blackstock, passed a month before.
A Very Happy Ending
Admittedly, Reba McEntire was not looking for love when she and Rex Linn got together. She had already been married twice before. Despite keeping the engagement a secret, this has been an incredible time in Reba’s life. She and Rex are loving the engagement time and are not looking to tie the knot anytime soon.
