Pandora Launches 2AM, a New “Home for DJ Set Culture”: Exclusive

2AM debuts by virtue of mixes curated by John Summit and Above & Beyond, among other high-profile DJs.

Pandora has launched 2AM, a new station and DJ takeover series that brings exclusive DJ sets and playlists from some of electronic music’s biggest names directly to listeners.

2AM is being positioned as “the home for DJ set culture on Pandora,” a company spokesperson tells EDM.com. Each takeover features tracks handpicked by the DJs themselves, complete with hosted introductions from the artists.

What sets 2AM apart from Pandora’s existing dance offerings is its focus on the DJ-as-curator model. Rather than algorithm-driven playlists, listeners get the tracks that are actually moving crowds at clubs and festivals, selected by the DJs who know these environments best.

The station launches today with curated mixes from a number of influential electronic artists, including Above & Beyond, John Summit and Don Diablo, among others. Pandora plans to expand the series with future contributions from ILLENIUM, Major Lazer and Amy Wiles.

2AM playlists will be regularly refreshed with new tracks throughout the year, according to Pandora. The channel will span the full spectrum of dance music, covering everything from EDM and tech house to nu-disco and chillout, essentially offering something for listeners across different moods and subgenres.
