LeAnn Rimes got her start in the music industry at a young age. She was just 13 when she released her first album that made her a household name. The multi-talented star is also an actress. She makes a TV comeback this fall in ABC’s 911: Nashville. The singer opened up about the surprising link between the TV show and her music career.

ABC’s 911: Nashville Spinoff Features Familiar Faces

LeAnn Rimes has a starring role in 911: Nashville. The new show is spinoff of the first-responder drama, 911. The show premiered on Fox in 2018 and moved to ABC in 2024. The Ryan Murphy show debuts a new spinoff this fall and has more country music connections than just the “Blue” singer.

Brad Paisley’s wife, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, takes on the role of the 911 operator in the spinoff. In addition to her long list of acting credits, the star also serves as host for Fox’s hit reality show Farmer Wants a Wife. 

Chris O’Donnell plays Fire Captain Don Hart on 911: Nashville. Grey’s Anatomy alum Jessica Capshaw plays his wife, Blythe.

Up-and-coming actors Hunter McVey and Michael Provost are part of the firefighting crew on the show.

LeAnn Rimes Talks Emotional Link Between New Role & Music Career

911: Nashville is Hunter McVey’s first big acting role. He plays the son of LeAnn Rimes’ and Chris O’Donnell’s characters, who is only now meeting his father and half-brother. The actor couldn’t stop gushing over working with LeAnn Rimes. In an interview with PEOPLE magazine, he said the singer “made me feel just at home and she welcomed me with open arms.”

She felt the same way about him. “We had an instant connection, and he’s just the sweetest human,” she said.

LeAnn Rimes spilled an interesting coincidence between her new TV role and her decades-long music career. Her 911: Nashville character’s son is named Blue Bennings.

The singer’s very first hit song was a cover of Bill Mack’s song “Blue.” The single from her first album skyrocketed to the top of the charts. LeAnn Rimes has taken a detour to acting during her long career. One of her most famous roles was a cameo in the 2000 hit movie, Coyote Ugly.

Her career took a hit in 2009 when Us Weekly published photos of her cozying up to her co-star in a Lifetime movie, Eddie Cibrian. They left their respective spouses and married in 2011.

According to LeAnn Rimes, it’s strictly a coincidence that her character’s son’s name is the same as her biggest hit song. However, they plan to “definitely going to have some good fun.”

911: Nashville was mostly filmed in Nashville, Tennessee, instead of a soundstage in California. The new series premieres on Thursday, October 9, at 9 PM Eastern on ABC. It streams on Hulu the next day.
