Time has an uncanny way of slipping through our fingers. And all too often, it leaves me racing to share everything I want on the blog. One standout that deserves my attention is the remarkable Swedish pop powerhouse, Agnes. With her recent return featuring the captivating tracks “Balenciaga Covered Eyes” and “Milk,” I was determined not to let another of her electro-pop gems pass me by. Serendipitously, a press release for “EGO” found its way into my inbox. Perfect timing, as this was exactly the track I aimed to spotlight. This, combined with an array of stunning teaser clips leading up to the release, makes it impossible to overlook her latest brilliance.
The 2021 album “Magic Still Exists” was undoubtedly one of my favourite releases of the year. Thus setting a high bar for any subsequent work. With that as a backdrop, I was genuinely excited to explore what came next. The press releases emphasised the intent to push boundaries and boldly experiment. Notably, this is evident in the strikingly different musical dynamics and infectious dance-pop elements showcased in tracks like “Balenciaga Covered Eyes” and “Milk.” Yet, it’s “EGO” that truly stands out as another quintessential electro-pop anthem where Agnes excels—her signature glossy sound is unmistakable and undeniably captivating.
”EGO” is inspired by conversations about self-discovery and Eckhart Tolle’s lyrics about the ego. I wanted to capture the feeling that it is only when we dare to let go of control that life can surprise us.’ Agnes, states.
Agnes has undeniably captivated us with her stunning visuals around the “EGO” release. (and which strongly suggests that a music video is on the horizon). I genuinely hope that’s the case! It would be nothing short of magical if Agnes decided to grace the UK with a couple of live shows. I still remember the thrill of attending the intimate Darin gig in London last year—it was such an unforgettable experience. However, the prospect of witnessing another Swedish pop icon live is incredibly enticing, and Agnes is at the very top of my bucket list. I’m eagerly hoping for this to happen, but regardless of the outcome, my passion for her music will remain unwavering!
