Blake Shelton just revealed a huge song that he actually recorded but didn’t put out. Instead, this song became a big hit for Toby Keith. So, what song did Blake miss out on?

Blake Shelton Reveals Song He Missed Out On

So Blake Shelton actually had the song “I Wanna Talk About Me” written specifically for him. Blake used to do a bit of a rap thing and Bobby Braddock wrote the song for him. Blake actually recorded the song and was ready to put it on an album before they told him not to do it. It turns out that they didn’t think this song was going to be a huge hit.

Well, later on Toby Keith got a hold of the song and put it on his album. This is now a huge hit that Toby will always be remembered for. It sounds like Blake missed out.

If you don’t remember this Toby Keith hit, here are a few of the lyrics:

“I wanna talk about me, wanna talk about I
Wanna talk about number one, oh my, me my
What I think, what I like, what I know, what I want, what I see
I like talking about you, you, you, you usually
But occasionally, I wanna talk about me
I wanna talk about me.”

What Did Blake Have To Say About it?

Blake Shelton shared the details of why he didn’t put this song out and it sounds like they were wrong. Here is what he had to say:

“We recorded the song and it was going to be on my album. And at the time, I was on Giant Records and they did some of those focus group testing things about that stuff. And it was like they wanted to play four or five songs for these groups.

And the testing came back that on, ‘I Want To Talk About Me,’ It was so terrible that they said, ‘Not only do we not want this to be a single, but we don’t even think you should put it on your album. It’s that horrifying of a song.’”

The real question is if this song would have been a hit for Blake, but I guess we will never know.
