Every Megadeth Album Ranked From Worst to Best

Megadeth have released 16 studio albums with their final album on the way and here’s how they rank from worst to best.

Dave Mustaine’s eternally shape-shifting musical vehicle which has seen countless members come and go has hit a few bumps in the road through the years, but has, overall, delivered a remarkably strong catalog with more hits than misses, that’s for sure.

Despite all these lineup changes, it’s Megadeth who have been the most prolific of the Big 4, with Slayer notching 12 LPS and Metallica and Anthrax tied at 11.

Sure, this veritable odyssey of a career has consumed, by our rough estimates, some two-dozen live and session musicians, it’s the uniquely gifted, tormented and driven Mustaine who took rock ‘n’ roll revenge to unforeseen heights of creativity and productivity over the winding journey that is Megadeth’s discography.

Looking back now, the band’s volatile trajectory is all the more fascinating, as they first helped pioneer a genre (thrash), then finessed and experimented with its possibilities to equal measures of public and critical acclaim and disdain, while undertaking more comebacks from the brink of destruction than most bands would ever dream of enduring, never mind overcoming.

That said, Dave Mustaine has never let his detractors stop him from achieving his goals, as his formidable talent and imagination has created over 40 years of world-class heavy metal.

Now, see how we’ve ranked every Megadeth album below!
