ROBB FLYNN of MACHINE HEAD Joins TRIVIUM At Bloodstock For BLACK SABBATH Cover In Honor Of OZZY OSBOURNE
Last night in the UK at Bloodstock Festival, Trivium played “their greatest festival set ever. Yep, even better than THAT Download one,” according to Louder‘s Rich Hobson.
“Trivium‘s Bloodstock show isn’t just a masterclass in how to put on a stellar, headline-worthy performance, it’s an affirmation of just how special that band are,” Hobson continues, before noting that the band’s covers of the night – including a cover of Black Sabbath‘s “Symptom Of The Universe,” which they dedicated to Ozzy – were “another rool to be deployed in a set that celebrates heavy metal in its entirety.”
Videos quickly started making their way around socials, offering snippets of the band’s five-star set, as well as fan filmed videos of Machine Head‘s Robb Flynn joining Trivium for the cover of “Symptom Of The Universe.”
Before diving into the cover, Trivium frontman Matt Heafy took a moment to honour Ozzy Osbourne (transcribed by Blabbermouth):
“So, we recently lost a hero of metal. I shouldn’t even say a hero of metal. A man without whom’s influence none of this shit would exist. I wouldn’t be here, we wouldn’t be here — none of these fucking bands would be here. Metal would not sound the fucking same, rock wouldn’t sound the same, fucking metalcore, deathcore, none of that shit would fucking exist without this man. And you know exactly what I’m talking about.”
The crowd starts chanting “Ozzy” halfway through Heafy‘s speech, which he returns halfway through the performance of “Symptom Of The Universe.”
“So, we wanna pay a special tribute to the man that made this all happen. But we can think of no fucking better way to have another one of our heroes on stage with us right the fuck now to sing this with us. Ladies and gentlemen, another person without whose influence we wouldn’t be fucking standing here right now. Make some noise for Robb Flynn from MACHINE HEAD.”
