With the recent release of their third EP, “day to night“. It is the ideal moment to explore the vibrant pop sounds of Lucky Iris. Yet, particularly so their captivating track “I Just Want to Dance.” Whereas, the lyrics present a compelling narrative that reveals Maeve’s journey into the world of electronic pop. Thus making it the perfect starting point for my latest music obsession. The essence of the song resonates strongly: “I just want to dance, if you want to. I don’t want to talk anymore. I just want to dance if you want to.”
Likewise, I find Maeve’s perspective truly relatable to my own experiences, as she explains. “As soon as I was old enough to even try and get into a club, all I wanted to do was go out dancing. It was my first taste of freedom which was so special to me – the first time, the music that got me there, and the rush of going out has always stayed with me.”
Lucky Iris, the innovative songwriting and production duo based in Leeds, consists of the talented Maeve and Jasper, who have been on a creative journey since their inception during the unprecedented lockdown period. The duo is relentlessly pursuing excellence in their craft. They are constantly refining their signature sound while layering it with fresh and exciting elements that captivate listeners. Their latest single, “I Just Want to Dance,” marks a bold exploration into the vibrant world of hyperpop. (A genre known for its energetic beats and playful melodies). This new direction infuses the duo’s electronic-pop mastery with a vibrancy and exhilarating twist. And unquestionably allows their sound to resonate powerfully with a diverse audience.
Furthermore, complementing the energetic backdrop, Maeve’s distinctively wispy and honeyed vocal style adds a dreamy quality, creating an enchanting contrast that elevates the track.
