CELINE DION On OZZY OSBOURNE: “I Always Admired His Boundless Spirit And Ear For Melodies”

Celine Dion has joined the chorus of tributes honoring the late Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away on July 22 at the age of 76. Known for her soaring vocals and emotional ballads, Dion shared heartfelt words on social media, reflecting on her unexpected bond with the Prince of Darkness.

“I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Ozzy Osbourne,” Dion wrote on July 25. “Ozzy and I were label mates for many years — and although we came from very different musical universes, I always admired his boundless spirit and ear for melody on songs like ‘Mama I’m Coming Home’. He was a true original! Fearless, and simply larger than life… but also kind, thoughtful, and generous.”

Though their musical paths rarely crossed stylistically, Dion‘s tribute underscores the far-reaching impact of Ozzy‘s music and personality across genres and generations. She concluded her message by extending condolences to Ozzy Osbourne‘s family and fans: “My heart is with his beloved wife Sharon, their children, and his millions of adoring fans from around the world. With all my love, – Celine xx…”

Ozzy‘s death has sparked a global wave of mourning and celebration, including a massive public funeral procession in his hometown of Birmingham, tributes from rock and pop legends, and moving reflections from collaborators, bandmates, and friends — now joined by one of pop’s most iconic voices.

Ozzy Osbourne‘s final public performance was at the Back to the Beginning farewell concert held at Villa Park in Birmingham on July 5, 2025. The monumental show featured Black Sabbath, Metallica, and other artists in what became a triumphant yet emotional send-off for the metal pioneer. Zakk Wylde, Ozzy‘s longtime guitarist, recalled the intense preparation for the set and how Ozzy struggled but still gave it everything — a performance many now see as his last gift to fans.

The show also served a charitable purpose, raising over $190 million for Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorn Children’s Hospice.
