Country icon Dolly Parton became a rock star after releasing an album of covers a few years ago. One diehard fan of metal created an Ozzy Osbourne-inspired rendition of “Jolene.”

Music Fans Mourn Heavy Metal Icon Ozzy Osbourne

Ozzy Osbourne is known as The Prince of Darkness. He famously bit the head off a live bat during a concert in the early 1980s. But fans of the singer got to see another side of the singer when he and his family started in a reality TV show. The Osbournes aired from 2002 until 2005 on MTV. Ozzy’s constant call for his wife Sharon Osbourne became a part of pop culture.

Before his solo career, he was a founding member of Black Sabbath. He was fired from the band in 1979 but recently reunited with them for one final show. Viewers of the MTV series always felt something was off with Ozzy Osbourne.

He revealed in 2020 that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. The disease eventually made it impossible for him to perform on stage any longer. But he was determined to go out on his own terms. He did one final show with Black Sabbath earlier this month in his hometown of Birmingham, England.

His family announced on July 22nd that the singer had passed away just weeks after the final show.

Dolly Parton Sent Ozzy Osbourne Heartfelt Message Before His Death

Dolly Parton is intimately familiar with losing a spouse. Her husband of nearly sixty years, Carl Dean, passed away earlier this year. She’s still coming to terms with the loss. She also knows about the love of performing for fans. She has said several times that she never wants to retire.

After major interest from fans, Dolly Parton unleashed her inner rockstar in 2023 with an album of rock cover songs. The album featured several big name musicians, including Paul McCartney and Lynyrd Skynyrd. She recently reunited with Nikki Sixx and Motley Crue for an updated version of one of their biggest hits.

Ozzy Osbourne and Dolly Parton never got to collaborate. But she showed her support for his final show. A video address from Dolly Parton was shown during the heavy metal singer’s final performance.

“Well Ozzy Osbourne, it’s Dolly Parton here. Now I know you are at home, and what a wonderful place to be, right? Now, are we supposed to be saying farewell to you? Well, I don’t think that’s gonna happen!

How about we just say good luck, God bless you, and we will see you somewhere down the road. I love you, always have, and we’re gonna miss you up on stage. But you know what? I wouldn’t be surprised if you show up somewhere else, and I’ll be there.”

Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” Gets An Ozzy Osbourne-Inspired Twist

Pop star Beyoncé covered one of Dolly Parton’s most famous songs on her 2024 country album Cowboy Carter. The album won Album of the Year at the 2025 Grammy Awards. Dolly Parton herself featured on the album in a voicemail recording.

Ozzy Osbourne never covered a Dolly Parton song. But a YouTube content creator did. Otu, a musician from Finland, remimagined Dolly Parton’s hit “Jolene” as if it were performed by Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath. Listen to the reworked song below and drop your thoughts in the comments.
