AMORPHIS Pays Tribute To Their Ancestors With New Single “Bones”

Amorphis has released their new single “Bones,” offering a powerful and darker glimpse into their upcoming album Borderland, due out September 26, 2025 via Reigning Phoenix Music. Lyrically, “Bones” pays homage to the survival struggles of Finland’s ancestors, tying historical gravity to the track’s intense sonic presence.

“As a starting point, I wanted to prove that even a keyboard player can create an Amorphis song which is based on a heavy riff, and to everyone’s surprise, ‘Bones’ turned out to be the heaviest Borderland song,” said Amorphis keyboardist Santeri Kallio.

Accompanying the single is the first official music video from Borderland, directed by Patric Ullaeus. Known for his visually cinematic style, Ullaeus has a longstanding relationship with Amorphis, having previously directed fan-favorites like “The Moon” and “Wanderer.” His extensive résumé also includes collaborations with In Flames, Arch Enemy, Primal Fear, and more.

Borderland is the first Amorphis album produced in collaboration with Danish producer Jacob Hansen,” said Amorphis guitarist Esa Holopainen. “Before that, we had made three amazing records at Jens Bogren‘s studio. During the planning phase of the project, we strongly felt that it was time to explore something new and see what working with a different producer might bring to the table!”

Pre-orders Borderland here. Amorphis will also hit the road come October and November with Arch Enemy, Eluveitie, and Gatecreeper, and then some solo tour dates this December. Tickets are available here.
