Funk Flex Bashes Cassie Ventura, Defends Diddy In Explosive Rant

Funk Flex ignited backlash on Wednesday (July 2) after posting a heated Instagram rant defending Sean “Diddy” Combs and accusing Cassie Ventura of orchestrating a payout, saying she “made bad choices” and is not a victim despite Diddy’s conviction.

Shortly after the verdict was announced, the Hot 97 DJ dismissed the case as “A STRECH AND WITCH HUNT,” claiming he’s known Diddy for years and never saw anything “OUT OF ORDER.”

He acknowledged Diddy “MADE MISTAKES” but stood firm in his defense of the music mogul.

Flex then shifted his focus to Ventura, criticizing her and her legal team while referencing a statement her attorney released following the guilty verdict.

“I DO THINK YOU AND YOUR LAWYERS SHOULD GIVE IT A REST!” he wrote. “YOU THREATENED TO DROP A BOOK THEN GOT PAID OUT TO NOT DROP THE BOOK! ( IF YOU CARED SO MUCH TO GET YOUR MESSAGE OUT YOU WOULD OF DROPPED THE BOOK) I GET IT… ITS A CASE.. YOU HAD TO TESTIFY… YOU 30Mil UP AND 10Mil UP FROM HOTEL!”

Flex also accused Ventura of setting Diddy up and denied she was a victim.

“YOU PLAN THIS ‘LICK’,” he added. “PLEASE DONT BE MAD AT ME BUT I DONT SEE U AS A ‘VICTIM.’”

He went on to say both Ventura and Diddy “MADE BAD CHOICES” and questioned when she would “TEACH GIRLS NOT TO MAKE THE SAME MISTAKES YOU MADE?”

Flex also warned that “THE ENTERTAINMENT BUISNESS IS A DANGEROUS ENVIRONMENT THAT EVERYONE IS NOT BUILT FOR!”

The post quickly drew criticism, with many accusing Flex of victim blaming and minimizing the severity of the case.

Ebro Darden Calls Out Funk Flex For “Making Excuses”

Among those who publicly disagreed was fellow Hot 97 host Ebro Darden, who commented, “With power comes great responsibility…. People abused their power and took advantage, once again of young people. Stop making excuses.”

Flex’s comments came just hours after Diddy a jury found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution—one involving Ventura and another involving a woman identified as “Jane.”

Each count carries a potential 10-year sentence, totaling up to 20 years behind bars.

Jurors acquitted Diddy of the more severe charges, including racketeering conspiracy and two counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion.

Following the conviction, Ventura’s attorneys submitted a letter to the judge urging the court to deny Diddy’s bail request, stating, “Mr. Combs could potentially be a threat to the individuals who testified in this matter, herself included.”

The court denied bail. Diddy will remain in custody until his sentencing, which is scheduled for October 3, 2025.
