Dolly Parton Joins Forces With 80s Hair Band For A Good Cause
Dolly Parton still manages to surprise her fans even at the age of 79. While she is primarily thought of as a country singer, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022. The move sparked fans to beg for a rock album. After initially expressing trepidation, the iconic singer gave fans exactly what they asked for. And she did not disappoint.
She released Rockstar in late 2023. The album of rock cover songs included collaborations with rock icons like Bon Jovi’s Richie Sambora, Heart’s Ann Wilson, and the two surviving members of The Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.
Her latest collaboration proves that Dolly Parton isn’t done rocking yet. Keep reading for all the details on why she teamed up with an 80s hair band for a good cause.
Dolly Parton Joins Forces With 80s Hair Band
Dolly Parton unleashed her inner rock star, and now she can’t unleash it. She collaborated with a huge 80s hair band to commemorate the 40th anniversary of one of their biggest hits.

Motley Crue dominated the airways throughout the 80s with their rock songs. While the ‘hair band’ fad faded, the group stayed on top of the charts. They released many hits over the years, but “Home Sweet Home” is their most iconic. They released the song in 1985. It was remixed in 1991 with additional instruments. The 1991 video focused heavily on drummer Tommy Lee, and of course, lead singer Vince Neil.
The band embarked on what they called their final tour in 2015. However, they’ve continued to tour since then, but without original band member Mick Mars. Sadly, Mick Mars had a falling out with the other band members over salary and other issues. The band tapped John 5 to replace him on the tour.
John 5 and Motley Crue member Nikki Six previously collaborated with Dolly Parton on the song “Bygones” from her rock album.
Now she’s teamed up with the entire band on a re-release of “Home Sweet Home” in honor of the show’s 40th anniversary. But that’s not the only special thing about the collaboration.
It also raises money for the Covenant House, which helps reduce homelessness not only in the US, but also around the world.
“It was an honor and a joy working in the studio on Mötley Crüe’s 40th Anniversary re-release of ‘Home Sweet Home.’ I was so pleased that they would ask me to sing on such a classic,” Dolly Parton said in the press release about the surprising partnership.
She Recorded The Song Shortly After Husband’s Death
The video of Dolly Parton and Motley Crue’s collaboration was posted on YouTube. The video mixes footage from the band’s previous renditions, as well as Dolly Parton in the studio recording the updated version.
According to the video, she recorded the song in April 2025. She announced in March that her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, had passed away. She’s since struggled with the loss, but keeping busy helps her cope.
