Dolly Parton Reveals How She Celebrated Anniversary After Husband’s Death
May 30th would have been Dolly Parton’s 59th wedding anniversary. Sadly, her husband passed away two months before they could celebrate the milestone. She recently opened up to Fox News about how she celebrated the anniversary in a way that made her feel that Carl Dean was there with her.
She revealed that they got married at a small church in Ringgold, Georgia, all those years ago. According to Dolly Parton, the church actually has a plague bragging that the iconic singer was married there.
The “Silver And Gold” singer shared that they used to visit the church every year to have a picnic on their anniversary. She couldn’t do that without him this year, but she made the trek to Georgia in his honor.
“That’s where I spent my anniversary, our first — my first — our anniversary without him, the first one,” she said. “So I thought, well, I have got to go back and just take a picture on that — on the same steps at that same church,” she said.
She added, “I put his wedding ring around my little gold chain and wore it,” she said. “And I wore my little original wedding rings and just stood there. And it was just so — it was just so sweet, and it made me. It was good for me.”
Perhaps that’s where she got the idea for her latest collection.

Dolly Parton always has a lot of irons in the fire at once, though she never neglects her music career. She famously put out an album of rock covers a few years ago. Rock icons like Paul McCartney and Stevie Nicks joined her on the record.
Earlier this year, she teamed up with clothing brand Good American to release a pair of jeans dubbed “Joleans” after her famous song.
The collaboration was just another in a long line of her ventures outside of the music industry. The popular singer has also released several books, with another coming out later this year. She has collaborated in the past with Hobby Lobby, Dollar General, and other stores for home goods. And who could forget her collaboration with Duncan Hines for delicious cake and cookie mixes.
Dolly Parton took to Instagram this week to announce her latest collaboration. She’s teaming up with fashion designer Kendra Scott for a jewelry collection. The ‘I Will Always Love You’ collection includes sculptural heart pendants, butterfly-inspired pieces and more.
