Drake and Kai Cenat are teaming up for their first-ever livestream to reveal the 20 winners of the “Somebody Loves Me” video challenge—a fan-powered contest giving $15,000 to each selected creator to bring their visual concept to life.
The livestream, scheduled for Wednesday (June 12) at 8 p.m. EST, will feature the Hip-Hop heavyweight and the streaming sensation reviewing submissions. Drake and Cenat will also react to standout entries and a few that didn’t quite hit the mark.
Cenat teased the announcement Tuesday night (June 11) on Instagram Stories.
“We were blown away by the creativity and thought poured into each submission,” Cenat said. “We were suppose to go live today but needed a little extra time to review them. Tomorrow DRAKE & I gonna go through some of the submission with you guys, share some of my favorites and some of the not so good ones and let ya’ll know which 20 ppl [are] getting money to bring their treatments to life!”
Drake & Kai Cenat Launch Challenge
The challenge invited creators to submit a 30-second to one-minute video treatment for any part of the track “Somebody Loves Me” from Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR’s album $ome $exy $ongs 4 U.
The final music video will be a patchwork of the winning fan-directed clips, stitched together into a single visual piece.
The idea came after Cenat publicly critiqued Drake’s “NOKIA” video, prompting the rapper to hand him the reins for this new concept.
Drake promoted the challenge on Instagram with the caption, “CALLING ALL VI$$$IONARIES.”
“This is about using your creativity, racking your brain, to make something work that’s genius,” he explained. “Find those ideas that are right there in front of you that everybody’s going to watch and wish they came up with.”
Earlier this week, Drake shared one of the more comedic entries from the challenge, which quickly went viral.
