Watch New SABATON Music Video for “Hordes of Khan”
SABATON unleashed their brand new single, “Hordes of Khan,” upon the world yesterday (6th June) alongside a brand new music video.
Off of their upcoming 11th studio album due out late this year, the band described that the newest track was based on historical figure, Genghis Khan, and his legacy: “Genghis Khan wasn’t just a conqueror; he was a complex figure who left behind a huge legacy. He built the largest contiguous empire in history, stretching far beyond Mongolia, and his influence only grew after his death.”
The music video follows a similar storyline, except it’s embellished with a futuristic twist. The video is set in 2045 – post-World War III, in a world where metal, and SABATON, no longer exist because metal wasn’t necessary in a peaceful world – and follows young children who wish to see SABATON perform.
Sneaking into the Natural History Museum to see a display of SABATON and the exhibition on the role their music played in the aforementioned WWIII, the children end up picking up SABATON‘s instruments, summoning SABATON‘s spirits back into their displayed wax-figurine bodies. However, in doing so, they also summon the spirit of Genghis Khan back into his own wax-figurine. An epic battle between SABATON and Genghis Khan ensues.
You can check out how the story ends in the music video above.
