Oliver Anthony’s New Single Banned From Airwaves
Aspiring musician Oliver Anthony went viral in 2023 for his musical takedown of the government. “Rich Men North Of Richmond” blasted politicians for ignoring the needs of the working class. It was an instant hit and sparked conversations about fair wages, poverty and government overreach. While the song was political in nature, it didn’t support the Democrats or the Republicans. The singer refused to support either party, further cementing his internet hero status.
While the song was immensely popular, Oliver Anthony refused to sell out and sign with a major label. He was determined to forge his own path in the country music industry. That means that he can release new songs on social media any time he wants and isn’t controlled by a large corporation.
He has a new single coming out this week, but it couldn’t be played on the airwaves. Why not?

He recently welcomed content creator and podcaster Cody Tucker to the Joe Rogan Experience podcast. The conversation turned to the music industry. And Joe Rogan shared an opinion that’s actually pretty popular these days.

“You don’t need all those people, and so you have this weird thing happening now where you have a lot of astroturf stuff, a lot of stuff that’s just thrown out there to try to get people to… it sounds like stuff that people like and it’s created, but you still have a lot more opportunity for legit artists to just like Zack Bryan just emerged from like Tik Tok clips or whatever they were YouTube clips,” Joe Rogan said about the record-making process.

There’s still people out there that are legit. They’re legit,” the former game show host said.
