Alan Jackson Shocks Crowd With Unexpected Announcement
Country singer Alan Jackson is retiring from touring amid a major health battle. He received a special award at the 2025 Academy of Country Music Awards. He made a shocking announcement during one of his last tour stops that left fans speechless. Keep reading to find out more.
Country Singer Warns Against Scammers Amid Illness
Alan Jackson revealed in 2021 that he’d been secretly battling a neurological disorder for a decade. He inherited the genetic disease Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease from his father. The disease affects the nervous system and causes mobility issues.

At the time of the announcement, the “Here In The Real World” singer assured fans that the disease wasn’t fatal. However, it caused balance issues, especially while performing on stage. That led the country music legend to make the difficult decision to retire from touring. While he still plans to release new music, the Last Call: One for the Road Tour would be his last.
News of the illness sent shockwaves through country music. But there are always people willing to capitalize on someone else’s misfortune. Scammers catfishing regular folks is a major problem these days. And it’s not just actors being impersonated.
It can happen to country music singers, too. Alan Jackson’s social media team posted a warning on Instagram early this year. They reminded fans that neither Alan Jackson or his team would ask for money. They encouraged anyone who received a DM requesting financial assistance to block and report the profile.

Alan Jackson recently celebrated the 34th anniversary of the release of one of his most famous songs, “Don’t Rock The Jukebox.” But it’s not the singer’s only popular song. He was honored at the 2025 Academy of Country Music Awards with the inaugural ACM Alan Jackson Lifetime Achievement Award.
Before he accepted the award, he took the stage to perform an emotional rendition of his 2003 hit “Remember When.” As he performed, images from his life and career aired on the big screen behind him.
Alan Jackson’s last stop on his final tour was in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Saturday, May 17. Fans of the singer packed the Fiserv Forum for one last chance to hear him perform. But he surprised the audience by revealing that he’s not done on stage just yet.
While the Milwaukee show was his last road show, he has one more concert up his sleeve. According to Parade magazine, he shared his plans with the crowd. “We’re planning on doing a big finale show in Nashville next summer sometime,” he said.
The “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere” singer added, “It just felt like I had to end it all where it all started. And that’s in Nashville, Tennessee. Music City.”
He didn’t reveal the date of his final performance, but said he was looking at next summer for his swan song. Alan Jackson’s health issues are making him retire from touring, but he’s not going out without a fight.
