Why Is THE SMASHING PUMPKINS’ BILLY CORGAN Launching A Solo Project To Play THE SMASHING PUMPKINS Material Live?

Here’s a baffling story for your Monday morning. The Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan has launched a brand new solo project called Billy Corgan And The Machines Of God, who will hit the road this June… to play sets of The Smashing Pumpkins material from their Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness, Machina/The Machines of God, Machina II/The Friends & Enemies of Modern Music, and Aghori Mhori Mei albums. Y’know, all stuff he could also play with The Smashing Pumpkins, but isn’t for some reason?

Even stranger, Billy Corgan And The Machines Of God will feature recently recruited Smashing Pumpkins guitarist Kiki Wong, drummer Jake Hayden, and bassist Kid Tigrrr (Jenna Fournier). So who knows what’s going on here and why these shows aren’t just The Smashing Pumpkins. Tickets are available here.
