HACKTIVIST Announces New Lineup After Mostly Everyone Leaves, Streams New Single “Bones”

Hacktivist recently split with drummer Richard Hawking, guitarist James Hewitt, and bassist Josh Gurner, leaving only vocalists Jermaine Hurley and JJ Olifent. Though that mystery of who would replace them was short-lived, as Hacktivist has announced guitarist Alex Hek (ex-October Ends) and drummer Stee Cole (protege of Mike Malyan) as their new members. I’m assuming Hek is taking over bass duties in the studio.

Hacktivist is now streaming their first new single with that lineup called “Bones” alongside a video directed by Olifent and Shaun Hodson. If this is the route that Hacktivist is gonna head down in the future, I’m here for it – this is pretty heavy!

“‘Bones’ is more than just a track — it’s a statement,” said Hacktivist of the song. “A blistering call-out to the industry snakes who exploit the hard work of bands for their own gain. Hacktivist is taking the DIY route, reclaiming our music, our message, and our future. This is the new Hacktivist, and we’re here to stay.”

“The song also reflects the challenges the band has faced in recent months. But instead of engaging in online drama, we deliver truth through raw, unfiltered creativity. This is our response. This is ‘Bones.”

In the meantime, Hacktivist has a handful of shows for this year all lined up.

25/4 Norwich, Waterfront Studio (w/ Eschalon & InRetrospect)
26/4 Milton Keynes, Craufurd Arms (w/ Eschalon & InRetrospect)
27/4 Nottingham, Saltbox (w/ Eschalon & InRetrospect)
8/8 South Downs National Park (Boomtown Festival)
23/8 Weston Super-Mare, Electric Banana (Reset Festival)
26/9 Preston, The Ferret (w/ Waterlines)
