Dolly Parton is one of the most beloved singers in the U.S. and beyond. She’s had countless hit songs and iconic movie roles. But she only just reached an important milestone in her long career. Keep reading for all the details.

Dolly Parton’s Hidden Song Might Never Be Heard

Dolly Parton has been performing since she was a young girl. Her career took off in 1967 when she joined Porter Wagoner’s television show, The Porter Wagoner Show. Their first duet, “The Last Thing on My Mind,” became a Top 10 hit, with more duets to follow.

She eventually left the show to pursue a solo career. Her iconic hit “I Will Always Love You” was written as a tribute to Porter Wagoner after she left the show. Dolly Parton has major success with songs like “Jolene.”

Her huge catalog of songs will live on through future generations. But there’s also a chance people living 20 years from now will hear a brand-new, never heard before song from Dolly Parton. How?

She revealed a few years ago that a time capsule buried at Dollywood includes a song she wrote and recorded but never released. While it seemed like a good idea at the time, she expressed regret during an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

“I want to dig that up so bad. It’s a really good song,” Dolly admitted on the daytime talk show. The capsule will be dug up in 2045. Only time will tell if the recording will be preserved enough for anyone to hear it.

Dolly Parton Achieves Historic Milestone In Career, Hits #1 On Billboard With Emotional Song

Even at 79, Dolly Parton continues to record and release new songs. She just had a major hit collaborating with Sabrina Carpenter on “Please Please Please.”

In 2023, she released an album of popular rock song covers after demand from fans following her induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Rockstar topped the charts, but one Billboard chart was unreachable for the singer… until now.

The iconic singer just hit #1 on Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart for the emotional song she wrote for her late husband. Dolly Parton’s husband, Carl Dean, died earlier this month. The couple would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in May.

Music helped Dolly Parton through the grief. She released the song “If You Hadn’t Been There” a few days after announcing her husband’s passing. The song honors the love she shared with Carl Dean.

“If you hadn’t been there where would I be?/ Without your trust love and belief/ The ups and downs we’ve always shared/ And I wouldn’t be here if you hadn’t been there,” Dolly Parton, “If You Hadn’t Been There.

What took Dolly Parton so long to top the Billboard Country Digital Song Sales? Forbes explained the very simple reason – most of Dolly Parton’s songs came out before digital sales were a thing. The outlet notes that the singer previously had six songs in the top 10 of the Country Digital Song Sales chart, but this is her first time in the top spot.

What did you think of Dolly’s tribute song to her late husband?
